Pick your program here - 🤍athleanx.com/x/my-workouts Subscribe to this channel here - 🤍bit.ly/2b0coMW A recent video I did sparked someone to comment that you cannot look good, build muscle or be athletic over the age of 35 unless you are on TRT. For those who are not sure what that is, TRT is testosterone replacement therapy. Some would have you believe that seeing any kind of progress after a certain age is dependent on you resorting to synthetic means and shortcuts. That is simply not true. In this video, I’m going to tell you the real problem with making statements like this. Honestly, they have no impact on me personally, even when those statements expand into accusations that I achieve my look by using the same things. I can tell you that as a one hundred percent natural lifter my entire life, there is nothing more encouraging and rewarding than someone believing you use drugs to look the way you do. It is mind blowing actually, especially considering that fact that I used to train at home exclusively or pick odd hours to train at a gym so that I would not have to run into too many people since I already felt self conscious about my body and my strength. No, the real harm in these kind of statements, especially those made with such conviction, is that they do two incredibly bad things. First, they lower the bar on what is possible. Are you kidding me? No gains after the age of 35? Really? I bet you can think of 5 guys right away that look better after the age of 40 than they did in their 20’s and they have resorted to nothing but hard work, a commitment to training and most importantly, eating well. The second big thing is this “loser” and “quitter” mentality serves to discourage those on the fence from starting to dedicate themselves from improving their level of fitness. Think about it. If you are not committed to training and you are online looking for videos on how to get started and you run across that comment, you’re going to possibly be defeated before you even begin. You may think, it’s not in the cards for me either. He’s right. There is no hope for me since I’m not going to be able to take things like TRT so I can’t look good. What happens is this. The quitter, angry about his inability to commit (and refusing to look himself in the mirror and admit that his efforts have been anything but truly committed and stellar) wishes to drag others into his misery and disappointment. Nobody likes to fail alone. Always remember that. If they can find a way to discourage or disparage the achievements of others it somehow makes them feel better about themselves and their inability to achieve. I have to say, in almost every one of these instances, if I were to actually watch a workout performed by this type of individual it would not be anywhere near the level of effort needed to make change. If I were to analyze their nutrition for even a single day, it wouldn’t take me more than 4 seconds to identify exactly why they don’t have the level of body fat they are desiring. Unfortunately, you won’t get this information. The person who leaves these type of comments hides behind their own insecurities and never shares the real truth about why they have failed. But this is not you. You watch this channel because you want the best, most scientific, no nonsense advice on how to train like an athlete, eat like an athlete and look like an athlete 365 days a year without resorting to dangerous drugs or gimmicks. You want to be natural, train natural, and live healthy for many years to come. Well, for you I can tell you that you are in the right place. Every single thing I show you on this channel is doable and obtainable if you put in just one thing, effort. My look is one hundred percent obtainable if you pair consistency up with that effort. You can do this. Don’t ever let anyone else try and make you stray from that path. If you are looking for a program that can help you make this simpler than ever to follow, head to 🤍athleanx.com and use our program selector to get the program best suited to your current goals. Manohar Aich, often nicknamed the pocket Hercules because of his sub five feet height, was a lifelong natty bodybuilder. Please check his photos when he was old. Lived till 100 or something and was “bulgy and veiny” till 94 or something 😂

I got into athlean-x with the athlean-x program. I started at 34, and became a fitness maniac over the next 4 years. I got in the best shape of my life, gained a ton of muscle and lost alot of fat. I have as much or more muscle than I've ever had now. This idea 'blah blah can't do anything over 35' is truly a pathetic quitters attitude. It's not that the person who believes this can't do it, it's that they lack the drive to get results, most likely because they can't stand pain or discomfort. Pathetic. Everyone is prepared to win - not everyone is prepared to put the work in.

I realize this is anecdotal but I'm 53 (a little bit past 35) and I'm able to build muscle. Will it take longer and more effort than when I was 23 or 27? Yes. That I can't build muscle is not true.

Now, I have a friend with a very high metabolism and he has a very hard time gaining weight. That's genetics (and to be frank I've seen him eat and he doesn't eat enough - him and his girlfriend many times split a meal when we go out to eat lunch and they have left overs) that has nothing to do with his age.

In order for me to just maintain my current body mass I have to eat at least 2,400 calories a day with something like 200g of Protein. To bulk up I would have to eat even more (something I can't really do to be honest, I just can't eat that much healthy food). For my friend he would have to eat well over 4,000 calories to bulk up and from what I've seen him eat, I'm not even sure he eats 2,400 calories a day.

The older I get the harder it is for me to lose fat and gain muscle. When I was in my twenties within a month I could be pretty ripped (I was also 30Lbs lighter than I am today), today it takes much, much longer. I also do not follow a strict diet and try to focus more on Protein intake than worry too much about what I'm eating. Still I weigh 241Lbs with 20% fat and while I have more to lose and more muscle to gain, I didn't get here overnight either. I have my little COVID baby and I wasn't in the most fit shape before COVID either.

I'm behind you 100% Jeff! I'm 67, have worked out most of my life since high school but never had what all my truly athletic friends had. I had to work hard for how I look today, which ain't sayin' a lot. I was an Army Ranger and their workouts are pretty dang tough. That was in my mid mid 20s to 30s. When I got out of the service, I continued working out and now that I'm in my 60s, I found your vids and I am seeing gains and development that I hadn't seen for decades. I have prominent traps, shoulders are starting to become more noticeable, and my technique has greatly improved for what I can do now and how I work out now, given my age and its natural effects. I've tailored my workouts with a lot of your video guidance. So I appreciate your guidance, Jeff ... thanx huge !

Great video!! Forgetting about the aesthetics side of things, if you can't sleep properly, feel lethargic all the time, moody, have low libido and most importantly are DEPRESSED go and take a blood test to check your test levels. If it is indeed low, rather than jumping straight into TRT and HCG which is FOR LIFE start by changing your diet, exercise 3 times a week and in 6 months' time take another test. That's what happened to me and I am 41. I considered TRT because my test levels were horrendous, but after changing my lifestyle my test went back to "normal" after about 6 months oh and I lost 12 kg in the first 3 months even with the low test, went from 110kg to 98kg and I am 6'6!! Remember TRT is for life, which means 2 injections per week for the rest of your life... if you are considering it just for the aesthetics I say you are an idiot!! But anyway, some people do need it so chat with your dr, but before jumping on it, change your lifestyle!

around the age of 30, your testosterone will drop by about 1% every year. it is fact! so by the age of 35 your own testosterone will usually be at 95% of your capacity. you will not notice any significant difference with muscle building from 25 to 35. by the time you are in your 50-60's they will have been lowered by 20-30% and you will probably notice that with the muscle building. Of course, you can have lower testosterone already at an earlier age, but that is in any case a side effect of a bad lifestyle in the past. You can never tell someone that they need trt at any age as long as they haven't had a blood test.
If you think you have low testosterone, do a blood test. No matter the age
