The truth about why almost all weight loss diets fail in the long run, based on the REAL science the industry keeps a secret 🤫 P.s. I really appreciate these videos. This is helping my perspective
If you want more information on this, Jason Fung has like 7 hours lecture on this. Search his lecture on The Obesity Code Lecture. You will get to know things from history of weight loss dieting, the science on what caused your weight loss diet to fail (like in this video but with way more info), What kind of diet to consider, even how to get fat if you are too skinny, and so on.
Edit : i will do you a favor and give you the link. Cheers.

can reverse diet work to increase metabolism ?
Solid video. Only thing is the "bodyme" (I didn't catch the name) where we had to speculate if we can lose fat and build muscle at the same time...? Your body doesn't think "oh I'm losing fat now so I can't build muscle" thats no logical sense. If you lift weight or do any exercise you will build muscle and lose fat.. at the same time. Maybe I misunderstood.. But if not that is really basic understanding of fitness and being active.

I'm re-watching this after the beginning of your 5/3/22 video and really feel like I'm finally absorbing all this good information. Science rules! Thank you for making these 'science explained' videos. <3
WTpjQs0atxs&t=18m10s 18:10 "transformed their body"? by losing 5.5 kilos? okay........
you are great keep going!
holyshit Natacha, this is such an underrated video and I can't even.... The research is insane. the effort put into editing al the little articles screenshots and scenes into the vid is looked over so quickly but done perfect. The way the information is provided by you is undescribably comforting, clear and 'organised'. Really appreciate this. Got yourself a new subscriber looking forward to watching the rest of your video's and gaining more knowledge <3
Well personally for me it was actually quite easy to lose weight and yeah for me the answer is go for mostly whole foods and you'll get used to the light hunger you have and that's what makes it sustainable.
I'm thankful for the keto diet (which I did only semi-stritctly) for teaching me to be more mindful about my eating and my satiety and getting my blood glucose (I come from a family of diabetics, and the research linking diabetes and dementia, which my father and aunt had, made me nervous) in order on top of the weight loss, but it definitely was unsustainable for me in the long run, restricting myself from things I enjoy, especially as someone with binging tendencies. I'm still better than I was before keto, but the weight and bad habits are starting to come back a few years later. I'm happy to find Natacha as I'm trying to find healthier, more sustainable ways of getting into shape, feeling stronger, and being comfortable in my body.
Loved this video def what I been thinkn 🤍
I really like this video, sadly the main reason crash diets are so popular is society's obsession with beauty. Here in Korea, you need to send a picture of yourself before you get an interview even for a desk job. How you look and how much you weigh can be make or break. Hence why these crash diets are so popular I think. Yes slow weight loss is better, but when you need to lose the weight for a job in 2 months you kinda just want that quick fix.
I can relate actually, before I know there are such researches, I myself already suspected that when dieting my body just becomes so efficient over time that the theoretical base metabolic number just don’t count anymore. I don’t lose weight anymore at that level, which in theory it’s a deficit and I should lose weight, and if I cut even further, bad effects starts to occur and I’m also training for running and cycling (though mostly base training, but not that “cardio” type of training untrained folks talks about), the recovery becomes tricky and overtraining syndrome starts to happen. It’s like a hibernation and preservation mode. Eve thing just feels so low.
Actually I did have a very good weight loss experience without any dieting, that’s when my cycling endurance and cardio performance just got “break through” and that enables me to be able to do very long ride easily almost at a daily basis. These rides usually are around or over 100km and with an elevation of about 500-1000m per ride. These are huge rides to be honest for an amateur cyclist. At the same time I’m not focused on my weight, I just care about my cycling performance, so I just cycle, and eat to my satisfaction. That’s when this happened: even though I eat whatever I like until I’m totally satisfied, I’m still in a calorie deficit. Man can only eat so much for a day, especially most of that day is on the road. And months later I surprisingly found that my weight just is dropping like never seen before….
At least starvation for me just don’t work.
As an obese person who has done several diets over the last decade (including when I was a healthy weight and didn't need to), I've experienced weight rebounds first hand. As I got more familiar with the science (via my biology degree) it started to feel like there was no avenue for me to reduce my weight and improve my health sustainably without it all eventually getting worse than when I started. But the conclusion to your video was a really succinct explanation of the gaps in the literature, and has made me feel a bit more hopeful- thank you!
This is a great video! There's so much pseudoscience and unrealistic marketing out there- glad you're fighting back
I am a 47 year old mom of three (ages 4, 11, 5). I have restricted eating my whole life (since 12 years old). The last few years my muscle mass has decreased greatly along with my definition and my fat gain (even though my weight remains around 105lbs. I am 5'4'' tall). It is hard for me NOT to gain weight even with eating only one meal a day (all my calories in the evening (3 chicken breasts, a bowl of granola (about a heaping full cup )and a big bowl of popcorn about 4 -6 cups). I run or walk 4 miles a day and do dumbbell weights every day (only upper body because I have chronic pain from my pregnancies and diastasis recti that prevents me from being able to do lower body training without increasing my already constant pain). What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Do you have a video you have done that will help me?
I learned more watching a handful of your EXCELLENT videos than I did during my entire PT course.
I'd like to know though, what do they consider a 'calorie restriction'? They say dieter's minds are preoccupied by food but how low was their calorie restriction? 250? 1,000? I'm thinking just a slight restriction of 250-500 wouldn't be giving people those results. I'd be interested to see the details of the study 🤔
