Love the fake testimonial by the sales clerk from an unnamed department store. Perhaps laws against fake testimonials were not passed yet, or like today were not enforced
Those who can, act. Those who can’t, become gossip columnists. “That idiot’s voice” was perfect for her character
Hopper made a career of ruining lives: At the height of her influence in the 1940s, her readership was 35 million. A strong supporter of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) hearings, Hopper named suspected communists and was a major proponent of the Hollywood blacklist.

Why did Hopper lie at first and say that Dorothy didn’t know her?
Hopper is as big a ham as Cerf
Lost? Or found?
Hedda Hopper was a gossip columnist who destroyed a few people's lives as did Dorothy Kilgallen. Although Dorothy was more of a reporter than a "gossip" columnist. If Dorothy wrote something it was no mere rumor like Hopper would report. Dorothy was murdered for trying to reveal who killed JFK is the theory.
Thank you so much.
Heda said too much in her replies. The gents didn't stand up for Heda.
Why did Dorothy want to see people's hands? This was the era of ladies wearing hats & gloves: & people could smoke in the studio!
I really wish this accent was still in use today . It’s so classy and melodic
thank goodness they eventually got rid of Hal Block.
Ms Fernandez was incredible!!! Poor John didn’t get to do his little conference tactics with the contestant and answer for the contestant. I know Dorothy would have been delighted about that deep down. 😉
This is probably in my top 5 now for fave episodes .. thank you for uploading it. Happy new year everyone 2023 🥳💥
I love these so much! Thank you for gathering and organizing!
I really love it that the compere was allowed to smoke. Reminds me of an interview with Jimmy Greaves interview done in the changing rooms where he was in a football kit calmly smoking a cigarette answering questions....
Even back then celebs and journalists were far left, even openly communist. Hedda was not, shevsided with McCarthy, and you can sense her and the panel's contempt for each other.
Wasn't Hedda Hoper the mother of William Hopper who played Paul Drake on Perry Mason?
Hedda Hopper That old hag was a key proponent of outing suspected communists during the red scare!
When the announcer said America's Gayest Show, I was sure Robert Q. Lewis would be on the panel.
