My 5th grade class resets from the lectionary daily in my English class, and reads from the lives of the saints and identify their country of origin for social studies and geography. I am the only teacher in the school that does anything like this, and I am the only Orthodox (“non Catholic”) teacher.
I teach at a Catholic school in the US where people love to talk about being Catholic, but are entirely unaware of any of this discussion. Children are being raised with the understanding that being “Catholic,” means something different than what it has ever meant before. I am Orthodox. I am not allowed to teach religion. The major things that I disagree with Catholics on though are things that every generation of the Catholic Church would have supported until these last few decades. “Catholic,” teachers support gay marriage, abortion, women priests etc…. And they are “Catholic.” I wish things were different. I want unity of the faith with the Vatican Church. These things make it impossible though and our Churches seem to grow further apart each year as the Vatican steers the Church further and further towards an anti Catholic faith. Orthodox generally are not offended by the catholicity of the Church. We have an issue with the lack of catholicity of the Vatican Church.
How on earth, do you, a mere mortal know ‘what’s going to happen’ in the future? Your secular analysis of statistics totally dismisses the reality that the Holy Spirit can blow away your theories in a heartbeat.
Pope Judas/Brandon works for Satan.
There will be no Vatican III. With the Church’s center of demographic gravity having shifted. The next council will be one of these possibilities: Manila I or Mexico City I or Lagos I.
I'm sick and tired of Pope Francis
He can't change what has been embedded in my brain
Thank God for the SSPX.
Robert - perhaps you could create a YouTube Catholic Catechesis. We may all be surprised when it becomes essential to the youth themselves to learn true tradition. It may be there we find salvation of our faith.
Robert - you are right. I do long for the traditional Mass for good reason —- the Holy Spirit continues to prod us all. Why are we so disrespectful of the Eucharist?
Sickening, cradle catholic who returned to the Church only a year ago. I get the sense that the actual meaning of mass is not understood by majority of congregation. Many will attend for schools ( packed out masses at relevant qualifying parts of year)
Would love to attend TLM, need to travel a bit and have been lazy. Will definitely make the effort - i want to worship and engage with Christ in mass, that is all.
If we go down the ‘woke’ path, what is left? Do we look to Orthodox Church?
VAT 2 was also change by stealth .
A Motu Proprio written in response to the listening sessions before the “listening” has actually happened?
I know what my wife would do if I acted as if I were listening to her long enough for her to shut up before I could say what I wanted to say to begin with…
Robert, I don’t think that your statement that Rome hates Latin is correct. If you look at the masses uploaded in the Vatican YouTube channel you will find the Pope using Latin and Gregorian chants during the Pontifical masses at St. Peter’s basilica. The Passion reading for this year’s Good Friday Pontifical mass was entirely in Latin.
Thats to keep churches from closing. The Pope is doing everything he can to keep churches open because numbers are declining when it comes to men wanting to become priests. I think that this Pope or the one who will follow after Pope Francis retires will lift the celibacy laws on priests and ordain men who are married and allow celebrate priests if they fall in love to marry and remain priests. It will give priests the freedom they need to either remain celibate or marry if they want. We will start to see more happier priests and more men who a married joining the priesthood. We knew a beautiful young lady at the parish that my daughter and I attended who was smitten with a parish priest at our Catholic Church, and the priest was in love with her too, people could tell that they were in love , it was so sad when this priest left , we think it may have been because of the deep affection he had for Greta the lady in question. She was devastated when he left. She is a shadow of what she once was now and what made it worse was the fact that the women in the church treated her like garbage after the priest got transferred to another parish. She is broken hearted as I am sure this priest is too. I pray for Greta and Fr. William.
Why conform to a past age athe Gospel of Jesus Christ is relevant to every age when communicated properly. Content is everything and communication clearly is important. The days of the elites in clericalism are over and elitist practice with their elitist language Latin is not good for regular people any mor Pope francis is trying to clear clutter to get back to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus christ.im/ Christ.im 71 years old I grew up before the 2nd Vatican council and under the Latin mass had not a clue what was going on.m Vatican 3 bring it on open the Mercy and person of God to sinners. THE Holy Spirit is always in the Present.
How hard is it for us to simply reject Protestantism? or else we are rightly forsaken
Honest to God, we are going to lose so many already lost people to more direct rigid religions like Islam because of all this wavering within the Church
I don’t agree with the Muslims but it was actually their religiousity and fervour that inspired me to get back serious about my faith. They are serious, we must be serious
the wolves are in the sheepfold its really that simple infiltratiom
n the chinese catholics betrayed demonic idol worshiped in the vatican supression of tradition promotion of all things liberal progressive permissive deliberate ambiguity from pope francis pray for him pray for the church fast make sacrifices
I am a cradle catholic who vaguely remembers before Vatican II. The new mass was presented as having good, unifying changes (to use the vernacular, and the priest facing the congregation). It was going to rejuvenate the church. It has done just the opposite. I recently became convicted (after watching videos and reading about Eucharistic miracles), that it was wrong to receive the Body of Christ in the hand and so began to attend Latin Mass. On Christmas, I had to take my mother to a novus ordo. People arrived late, girls were inappropriately dressed (in leggings), people yawned their way through, the music was dreary, the sermon was on a 4 year old who was scared of Santa Claus, Eucharistic ministers glared when you wanted communion on the tongue... There is novus ordo ad orientum near me which is beautiful and reverent- I can attend that Mass- but usually not a 'regular' novus ordo. Latin is the language of the traditional mass for a reason- it is a 'dead' language, which means it does not change! English and other languages are constantly changing, in meaning and translation/ interpretation. Words and language are important...For example: wikipedia just changed the definition of 'recession' so that people are now able to say; 'we are not in a recession', when we really are. Latin doesn't change- the original word/ meaning/ interpretation is still the same, valid and true.
