Ann Miller didn't need a partner!
These are really amazing dance numbers some of these movies are hardly on tv anymore thank you for sharing
Astaire & Rodgers----------Astaire & Hayworth---------Astaire & Powell------Astaire, & Charisse---------75 y/o Astaire, & 26 y/o Barrie Chase----------it didn't matter who-------he made it all, look so easy ! -----------MJL, 76 y/o
BARYSHNIKOV, & HINES ! Every time I see them in that sequence, i am completely mesmerized. 2 of the very best-----------ever--------for an all too brief time, making magic on the dance floor . That moment is why I'm a lifetime lover of cinema. --------------------MJL 76 y/o
Stormy weathers is the ONLY movie I would agree the tap was slightly better than in "Tap". Gregory Hines blew my mind as a kid and that particular tap scene is my favorite dance scene ever. And I really love Danny K but I see him as a dancer more than a tapper. Slightly different. My love of dance largely comes from "White nights". Gregory and mikhail are amazing in it!!! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WAY higher on the list. Granted my favorite dance scene is the ballet mikhail does. I always loved tap but then tap introduced me to ballet especially Russian and I've been in love with dancing anywhere and everywhere the beat hits me. Asthmatic so no I didn't get formal training. That didn't make me try to live through dance any less. Lol 😁
I can't decide who is better or makes me want to dance - Gene, Fred or James Cagney? They just are so talented. Gives me goosebumps. But Cagney may be my favorite, just the way he taps with ease is amazing. He also looks like he's going to tip over when he danced. Its humor, joy and ease all in one.
I am surprised that you didn't include jail house tango from Chicago or Jail House Rock with Elvis Presley.
A few of the dancers I'm not familiar with.
Hey! Wheres Dick Van Dyck on the Rooftops in Mary Poppins or the Me Ol Bamboo in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
I won't disagree with the picks here. But I'd like to add that there are several great dancers who are over looked time after time. Donald O'Connor and Gene Nelson both lived in the shadows of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Donald O'Connor is still remember by by many, but Gene Nelson seems to be a forgotten man by most,... and that is a shame, because he may have been the smoothest and most fluid of all of them.
Uncle, Sammy Davis Jr.!
Wasn't HAROLD NICKOLAS married to DOROTHY DANDRIDGE?
Too bad it has Jane Fonda in it, elsewise I'd like to see it.
It amazes me how the Nicholas Brothers get up from the splits with no hands!
Where’s Top Hat White Tie and Tails????
Since I've watched the movie Since I was 6 years old, my favorite tap dancing movie scene was and still is In fact to the this day Boogie Wonderland from Happy Feet. I mean just look at how Mumble was able to turn out triumphant during the mating season scene with him and Gloria. And all he really had to do to finally impress her when she was singing
her Heartsong to Mumble was to do what he does best and what he has been doing his whole life. Dancing. I mean as Gloria put it herself towards Mumble. You might want to stick to dancing and during that scene, he did just that. You go Mumble!!!
Two segments dedicated to Ann Miller and not one segment dedicated to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, the most iconic dance duo of the 20th Century? Seriously? Once again you’re demonstrating your complete incompetence.
Thank you the snippet from Billy Elliot , fantastic!
Donald O'Connor ON ROLLER SKATES!!!....'i love Melvin' movie, song, 'Life Has It's Funny Little Ups & Downs'!
