Well, I'm pretty much disappointed with this new release of Ring's Spotlight Cam...the PRO and Plus versions. 5 long years before these new models and they are still recording in 1080P. I will review these spotlight cams whenever my pre-order comes in. So… ring spotlight gen1 or plus?
Wow Nokia of security cameras, that was deep 😮😂. Ring definitely need to step it up.
Ever since Amazon took over Ring it has gotten worse and worse
Whatsup with the voice crack boi.. you nervous?
It’s much faster to stream 1080p, and send data to ring cloud than 4K, not to mention the amount of bandwidth required. With rings internet backup it does not pair well.
I have the spotlight pro and love it but the battery is a different size than the normal spotlight cam.
Just got the ring spotlight cam plus battery. All the answered questions on their site says they work with solar panels on mine theres no place to plug in the solar panel. Are they seeing something I'm not?
1080p in low light is really pointless I’ve been looking at replacing my ring 1080p cameras because of this
Seems this is a premature review, let’s wait to you get it before your 1080 judgement
NNuH-gIscTg&t=3m49s 3:49 if they become Nokia that means they’ll fail and go out of business.
id rather have 1080p if i knew the reliability was 100%. if the second someone walks into its view i get a notification and it instantly loaded and was not blotchy for a few second but id rather go with eufy and get the same issues in 4k. Anker has shown to be a reliable company.
Hey @lifehacker, if we have the nest/google ecosystem, is Ring spotlight cam still a good option or would you recommend another brand until google comes out with their version (which might be never?!) thanks…
Importaint question.. will this work inside my car parked in my garage stall? For motion detection. My regular stick up cam dont work thru glass, so will this one work tru my windshield as a "dashcam"
Though 4K is becoming, if isn't already, the new standard for video resolution, the truth is most people do not have the capability to "view" 4K on their more daily devices such as their smartphones. The average person would not be able to identify a 4K image over a 1080p. 4K does have the advantage when isolating a portion of an image and zooming it in, but it would also require a 4K monitor to do this. And even if your mobile device was 4K, there would still be some loss over the wireless transmission. I don't find any substantial advantage of 4K versus 1080p in the consumer market. Don't allow media to influence your beliefs. Experience it for yourself.
I have ring alarm system, and cameras, from they did the software up my cameras only shows a black screen on all the video recordings. The alarm system keeps going off line. I have called them multiple times, and up until now they Have not been able to fix the issue. I have there yearly subscription, from 2018.. its been over a month now and my system is still down.. I'm getting tired of the issue.
Bc the 1st gen is upscale 720 lol
I also hoped for 4K, very disappointed here for the upgrade although my spotlight mount cams have been solid. COMON RING! WE WANT 4K!
In your opinion, what would be the best overall wireless camera brand? Cheers
Great job lifehackster… Ring 1080p hdr not 4k… Nokia baby… NOKIA…
