This age-old technology could prove quite useful, considering that it can provide energy, where ever you have waste heat. So Could this be the breakout technology we need for a truly sustainable future? Where heat generated from A/Cs or electronics can be harnessed for free energy, rather than wasted? question, what about not burning to drive the heat differential? instead of the flame, how about a very hot peice of metal around the tube?
GFCsYictPFo&t=8m02s 8:02 Щекин азот рулит🤘
you also didnt mention that in addition to variable fuels stirlings can run at different heat levels..running slower or faster with the change in heat- and therefore able to use low grade heat that is normally wasted..
just for points ..diesel engines are also heavier and also do not s a steady state stirling or slow throttling stirling could be supplemented with batteries...there really is no problem. just imagine a prius that already gets 50 MPG now running as a stirling that gets 2x more out of each gallon. now you have a 100mpg hybrid that only needs fueling maybe once a month and has no rangeanxiety and you have a real competitor to a tesla!!
I like the idea of storing the excess heat in a sand battery and using to for winter heating, heating hot water or or maybe a new type of out door cooking Alliance line.
What about using one of them with that material that held heats or along thermal transfer video you had earlier he will transfer heat to one of these engines very well
Do you think a Stirling Engine could be used In very cold areas like Alaska to add voltage to a Tesla Wall in any meaningful way. In the winter there are many lolcations in the world that experience temps of -40 degress (C) for weeks at a time. The houses or busineses in cold locations are heated to 18-20 degrees (C). That is a difference of 60 degrees. Are there any experts out there with thoughts regarding this? Thanks Ricky, I really like your show 😁
Would be great in electric cars to use the waste battery heat to charge the car making the battery more efficient. Better yet using heat to charge the car like a simple candle 🕯
This video misses the most important issue: the "quality of heat" - which is big delta-temperature as well as the flow (volume) of heat at that point. I do like the "heat line" idea as we waste tons of heat because it can't be easily (economically) captured.
Imagine a lens focusing solar heat/energy into a stirling engine powered by a geo-thermal system to enhance its function? I see many possible uses for this old tech. I saw an old stirling engine that was used to pump water on an old historic Orchard/farm in upper state New York. I've been inspired by it ever since.
You are not going to use a water coolant system to cool the advantaged solar panels I think it will flop there in the long run.
We should realize that every use of energy creates or is heat. We use heat to put things in motion and when we slow them down or otherwise consume or use that motion.
Maybe the most difficult things to do is take smaller and inherently less efficient instances of "waste" heat into and turn them into reservoirs to use when we want them. Lots of work going on there.
One thing mentioned when you talked about the attic heat is pumping heat transfer medium from the heat source to where it is used on the Stirling engine. The energy to pump the material may be more than is generated in the end.
Some fluids expand with heat which creates a pressure that might be used to circulate it. Maybe the means used in CPU heatsinks on computers would work here. I'll look into that.
hot nuclear waist deposits!!!
Why aren't we using graphene or other heat tolerant conductors to bring heat up from deep underground and converting the heat to other forms of power needed???
heat from the attic? yes - keep the insulation off of the heat exchanger. Alternative: Use the expired patent that puts tubes in metal roofs to collect heat. So, for new construction or changing out from old shingles, then consider this patent.
A solar powered stirling generator. That im still looking for. I see them on utube but I cant find any for sale
There is nothing wrong with diesel engines except that the profits don't go to the right people. This is all politics.
You did not mention the dodge pick-up powered by stirling engine. Made by NASA, i think.👍
a kabel train with radiators with air from sealevel, go up to +8kilometers on the mountain and comeback, the cold air heats up because the string engine sealevel heat and brings the heat to the top of the mounted and cools of again, cycle complete, cooling down earth.
