"Make 'Em Laugh" makes its debut in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN ('52), frenetically performed by Donald O'Connor. Written by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, the song is closely based on Cole Porter's "Be a Clown". Look for these films on Watch TCM at 🤍tcm.com/watch. WTF with the recommended videos at the final?
The actor literally made what he told in the song: He made us laugh 😂😂 I never watched the entire film and I think it is totally worth watching. If you guys ever watched the entire film do you think it is worth watching?
Really disappointed that the suggested videos pop up right before the wall flip. The part I’m waiting for and it’s partially obstructed
I cannot express how much of my personality is based on this song.
iGCNBdCvzL4&t=3m27s 3:27 I remember trying and failing to replicate this so many times as a kid.
Good grief, I’m feeling joint and muscle pain just watching those pratfalls! No wonder Donald ended up bedridden for days,I’m surprised he could walk at all after that. Now THAT is dedication to art if ever I saw it.
Also, if Hollywood lore is to be believed Gene Kelly was….well, frankly an absolute nightmare to work with so I wonder how much satisfaction Donald got out of beating him up with that hat 😂😂😂
Miss you terribly Don.
O'Connor picking up where Buster Keaton left off.
He landed like a feather on that piano
This guy is a genius. He made me laugh.
It's just 3 straight minutes of this guy being goofy. Best song I ever watched.
fun fact. that floor is a thin rug over solid concrete.
he did all those pratfalls.... on solid concrete.
He will forever be in my opinion the best movie character in all of cinematic history. I fell in love with him and also aspires to be him.
Donald O'Connor is an absolute gem
Quagmire brought me here
The way Cosmo says Yeah after Don said Greedy huh And the way he slams his foot on the piano is so funny 😆
*️⃣ The brick wall sequence is my favorite, but the entire song & dance is phenomenal
If I were in a new Blue's Clues movie I'd do this and all original dancing and music
The brillant Donald O'Connor ...unfortunately blocked by adds for other TCM videos just as he does the incredible finish to this historic number.
