Locally controlled doorbells are relatively uncommon. In this video I take a deep dive into the subject testing out the Reolink PoE Doorbell, Reolink WiFi Doorbell, Amcrest AD410, Dahua VTO2311R, Hikvision DS-HD1, UniFi G4 Doorbell, and UniFi G4 Pro Doorbell. Great video as always. I didn't even make it all the way to the end before I was clicking BIN on the Reolink wifi doorbell. Reolink website makes you subscribe for updates on availability, but Amazon shows it's available to ship next day delivery.
Why did you not include ring in your testing?
Reolink is the best I think
Amazing review! Thank you so much!
great video, thanks
When will Reolink be available?? For a system with doorbell and 2 cameras would NVR be necessary or get away with local POE switch and app? I just want live feed, local storage and phone notifications when away.
Im suprised from the BAD quality of the Dahua and Hikvision doorbell cameras. I receive my dahua vto2311r-WP, is this the same you use in the video or is the WP updated?
I also use Blue Iris and I can connect to my AD410 even with internet off. I use a program called Amcrest Surveillance Pro
I think something may be wrong with your Amcrest AD410. Mine looks very sharp and much better than any of the ones on this video.
I have both Amcrest doorbells and Reolink cameras and I use RTSP to feed my local Blue Iris system (DVR) for all recording and alerts. I block all outbound, as well as default inbound, from/to my home cameras with my dedicated firewall... you would be amazed just how many times a day each of them try to cloud connect. 99% of all outbound attempts from my home networks come from them... hundreds of thousands of attempts. Careful pruning of rules and flows can re-enable doorbell alerts via their apps if desired, but I do not trust them after looking at what they try to connect to and send.
Tip... if you run these doorbells off your house doorbell power, make sure the power transformer is rated to deliver enough (usually located at or near your home electrical panel and stated in VA). I had random issues with WiFi drops and it was due to an underpowered transformer, especially at times the doorbells kicked on IR lights. A quick upgrade and doubling of power to fix.
THANK YE SIR
Great Video. I've been using Reolink Camera's for the last 5+ years. Home and Business and doesn't look like I'll be Changing anytime soon as reviews for Reolink still seem to be a great purchase.
Great video. Amcrest sucks. I wish I had watched this before wasting my money
Did you try to record new quick messages? Every recording is so much overdriven that you almost can't understand anything.
Good analysis - One thing that seems obvious to me is that NONE of the cameras are really very good at Identification purposes of security. I believe the real measure is an answer to the question:
"at what distance can you both identify a person's face AND read the small text?"
Obviously this means that you're going to want the highest resolution possible, even at the cost of sacrificing field of view. If you need a wider field of view for security, I would suggest that NOT using a "doorbell" camera is the better choice - ie. use a mix of camera types to achieve a total solution.
Which is what I was really looking for when I stumbled on this video - I want to see a review of "total security systems" that use multiple cameras (cameras that integrate into a single platform). Do you have such a review/video?
For those with Reolink POE. I keep getting the occasional dropped signal from the doorbell, in Blue Iris. This could easily be hardware since my run is spliced multiple times but with no drops over the weekend, I'm going more software based.
Any advice on settings within BlueIris to look at?
Important information to make the Reolink work remotely with a VPN: by default the reolink app adds the doorbell based on the 'UID' rather than it's IP address and then it only works using the cloud once you have excited the app and open it again. To make sure you add the doorbell based on it's IP address you need to delete the device if you already added it. Then disable wifi on your smartphone so that you are on mobile data. Then activate the VPN. Then add the doorbell using the option 'input UID/IP' then choose the IP option and enter the camera's IP address.
Also, why doesn't the POE Reolink door bell have the same options as the Reolink WIFI door bell with regards to 'Rich notification' feature and the option of Cloud Storage (not that i'd use it but still).
Another annoying thing with regards to the REOLINK WIFI doorbell., how comes the WIFI one still comes with a NIC?
They've gone to all that effort that REOLINK may as well have just made one door bell version which supports WIFI and POE to give everyone options, instead they've tried to make two products one of which (POE version) has less official features.
Reolink put their prices up on the REOLINK POE doorbell and then they've try to make it look like its on a sale showing a slightly lower price which is still more expensive than it has been prior to the run up to Christmas. REOLINK is like Merry Christmas everyone here's a nice price hike for you you dumb f**ks! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I was going to order two, one for me one for my sibling, but reolink can get fkd for that!
