Today in our village, we cook 20 King size crabs each one 2kg. This crab item is very rare in our village. These shells are stronger than normal crabs. We broke the shells first to get inside the masala and make it easier to eat. We call this crab Kali nandu, samba nandu, and Kattu nandu. We cooking crabs by making traditional crab gravy. The taste is delicious!

Here I am using Mud Crabs which are black in colour. Fisher folks say that they go to the river with a lantern on ‘amavasya' (no moon day) to catch them as they are more fleshy on these days. These mud crabs live in small nest-like holes in the sand. In this recipe, the walking legs are pureed, strained and used in the gravy (if you don't prefer, you can skip this step while preparing). Crab meat is a great source of protein, long chain omega-3 fatty acids and riboflavin (vitamin B2) and selenium which are essential nutrients required for the body. Crab meat is good in reducing Triglycerides. This spicy crab delicacy is easy to prepare and is a wonderful blend of different spices and roasted coconut. Serve Crab Masala with hot steamed rice, rotis or even rice bhakris. Here's the recipe from my kitchen to your's. Happy Cooking ! The OOZING creamy egg sauce with intense curry flavour. Yes, it's the Thai version of curry crab. *I used live crab in my video for show (it looks nicer), but I strongly recommend just use frozen crab meat. It's much easier. * Ingredients (serves 2 with rice): 1) Chinese parsley: 2-3 stalks *Optional 2) Spring onion: 1-2 stalks 3) Chilli: 1 chilli *Optional (only for decoration) 4) Garlic: 1 clove 5) Mud crab: 1 whole (if you use crab meat, as much as you like but around 1 cup is good ratio). 6) Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon 7) Potato starch: 2 tablespoon mix with water (I eventually use 2.5 tablespoons of the mix) 8) Large eggs: 3 eggs 9) Chilli oil: up to you; I use 5 tablespoons. *Optional. Ingredients Crab /njandu : 750gm (before cleaning) Onion sliced : 2 Tomato chopped : 1 Ginger (crushed) : 1″ piece Garlic (crushed) : 10 cloves Kashmiri chilly powder : 2 tblspn Turmeric powder : 1/4 tspn Coriander powder : 1 tblspn Garam masla powder : 1/2 tblspn Coconut milk : 1 cup Curry leaves : 3 springs Mustard seeds : 1/2 tspn Shallots / kunjulli (sliced) : 10 Curry leaves : 2 springs Coconut oil Salt Method Clean the crab and keep aside. Heat a clay pot (manchatti)/ pan with oil. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seed and let them crackle for a few seconds. Add sliced onion ,small onion ,chilli and salt,saute it well till it turn light brown Now add chilly powder, coriander powder,turmeric powder, garam masala powder ,ginger garlic paste,tomato. Crab Curry | Perima's Kitchen Recipe! An authentic spicy crab curry has to be full of flavor with an abundance of mouth watering gravy. The crab meat is sweet and if prepared correctly the flavor of the gravy will infuse into the meat enhancing the deliciousness of the delectable and succulent crab meat. Preparation of the crab: 2kgs crab ( XL Crab) Please ask your fish monger to cut and clean the crab and very importantly, to give the crab a bit of a bash, so the cracked shells allow the gravy to seep into the crab meat. Give your crab a thorough wash to remove any small pieces of shell. Ingredients: 2 kgs Crab (Large or XL) Half a cup of oil 2 tsp Mustard seeds 2 tsp Methi seeds 2 tsp of Crushed ginger & garlic 2tsp of Cumin/Jeera powder or roasted jeera seeds 2 Large onions 6 Green chillies 2 Stems of curry leaves 7 tbs of Masala (I used Nagiah's EveryDay Masala, Extra Hot. Alternatively, use a mix of 3 tbs Masala and 2 tbs chilli powder and dry spices). 8 large Tomatoes 2 to 3 tbs of Tamarind 1 bunch of Fresh dhania (coriander) Cloves of garlic Salt Perima’s top tip: in a separate pot heat up some oil, fry fresh curry leaves 🍃 & then add 1.5 tsp of Kashmiri chilli powder. Check out today's episode of #MaaKiBaat with Chef Ranveer Brar and fall in love with the mother, who has got it all. #CrabMasala #क्रैबमसाला #ChefRanveer Crab Curry Preparation time: 20 minutes + marinating Cooking time: 40 minutes Serves: 4 Ingredients For Coconut Paste 2 tbsp Oil 1 Onion, sliced 1 cup Fresh Coconut, grated 3-4 Whole Red Chilli 1 Star Anise 1 tsp Stone flower/ Dagad Phool 5-6 Black Peppercorns A pinch Nutmeg, grated 2 Bay Leaves 1 inch-Cinnamon Stick 1 Green Cardamom 1 tsp Khus Khus/ Poppy Seeds ½ tsp Shahi Jeera/ Black Cumin Seeds 2-3 Garlic Cloves 3 Green Chillies 1 tbsp Coriander Seeds Marination for Crab 1 inch-Ginger 2-3 Green Chillies Handful of Coriander Leaves 7-8 Garlic Cloves 2 Whole Red Chillies 8 Crabs, cleaned & legs & claws removed ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder 1 tsp Malvani Masala Salt to taste Marination for Crab Claws & Shells 1 tsp Turmeric Powder 2 tsp Malwani Masala Crab Claws & Shells For the Juice Crab Legs 2-3 cups Water Crab Curry 2 tbsp Ghee/ Oil 4 bay Leaves 2 Star Anise 1 inch-Cinnamon Stick 2-3 Green Cardamoms A pinch of Asafoetida 2 Onions, finely Chopped Handful of Coriander Leaves, finely chopped 7-8 Mint Leaves, finely chopped Marinated Crab Claws and Crab Shells Marinated Crabs 2 tsp Malvani Masala Handful of coriander Leaves, finely chopped Prepared Coconut Paste Salt to taste Crab legs juice Kokum 2 cups Coconut Milk Coriander Sprig Process:- For the Coconut Paste:- ● Heat oil in a pan, add onions, sauté till translucent. ● Add coconut, whole red chilli, star anise, cinnamon stick, dagad phool, black peppercorns, bay leaves, nutmeg, poppy seeds, shahi jeera, garlic cloves, green chillies and coriander seeds, sauté for 3-4 minutes. ● Add water and grind it into a fine and thick paste. Marination for Whole Crab:- ● In a grinder, add ginger, green chillies, coriander, garlic cloves and red chillies. ● Add 2 tbsp water and grind it into a fine paste. ● Marinate the crabs with the paste, turmeric powder and malvani masala, keep it for 15-20 minutes. For the Juice:- ● In a grinder add crab legs and water. ● Grind it and then strain it in a bowl through a strainer. ● Keep aside for further use. Marination for claws and shells:- In a mixing bowl, add crab claws & shells, turmeric powder and malvani masala. Marinate for 10 minutes. Crab Curry:- ● Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan, add bay leaves, star anise, cinnamon stick, green cardamoms and asafoetida, sauté for a minute. ● Add onions, coriander leaves and mint leaves, sauté till onions turn translucent. ● Add marinated crab claws & crab shells, mix everything well. Cook for 4-5 minutes. ● Add malvani masala and coriander leaves, prepared coconut paste, salt, crab legs juice and keep stirring well. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes. ● Add kokum and coconut milk, mix well. Cook for last 5 minutes. ● Transfer in a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig. ● Serve hot roti or rice.

Cooking crab curry is an art form. Eating it is it's own art form as well. This method of cooking crab was taught to me many years ago by my mother-in-law. I am sharing it with my Youtube community with a few modern updates! You will wish you could smell this through your TV/mobile device as it was cooking! Ingredients 2kg crab - 1.1kg after cleaning For the Marinate ~ 2 thumbs of whole ginger 10 cloves garlic 1 tsp salt 2 tbs coconut oil 1 tbs soy sauce A handful of dhania (coriander) - Apologies for the incorrect spelling in the video Large Splash of lemon juice ~ 2tbs For the braise 1 large onion, grated A large handful of curry leaves 4 green chillies - to taste 1/2 cup oil 1 curry spoon mixed masala - equivalent to 4tbs 1 tsp hurdee (tumeric) powder 2 bay leaves 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp sesame seeds 1/2 tsp methi (fenugreek) seeds 1 tsp jeera (cumin) 1 tsp dhania (coriander) seeds 1 tsp black pepper corns 4 large tomatoes, grated 1/2 cup tomato puree 1 tsp salt 1 tsp mixed herbs 2 tbs imlee (tamarind) 1 cup coconut milk 1 tsp dhania (coriander) powder 1 tsp Jeera (cumin) powder Spring onion and Dhania to garnish We served with some fresh French loaf to soak up the gravy. If you are like Pranesh, you will need an antihistamine because the curry is irresistible! I mix masala like this: 🤍
