Finding the best beginner adventure motorcycle for you can be a difficult task. There are a ton of entry-level ADV bikes to choose from and they have widely varying engine sizes, capabilities, and features. In my opinion, the most important factor when choosing the best beginner ADV bike is confidence. A new ADV rider needs to feel like they are going to be able to handle both the bike and the terrain, and that's why I recommend starting with a small or medium sized adventure motorcycle or even an adventure-style dual sport motorcycle. I've compiled a list of my 9 favorite entry-level ADV bikes for beginners. Now, entry-level ADV bike doesn't mean crappy or not fun to ride. Skilled riders can still enjoy all of the awesome adventure motorcycles on this list, but these 9 best beginner adventure bikes are the most confidence-inspiring and easy to find choices out there, so these are the beginner ADV bikes I recommend. Part 2 of of our 5 Miles of Hell ride. 5moh is touted as Utah's Toughest Single-Track Trail. We wanted to see if we could complete this monster on ADV bikes... it was a hell of a day! I'd watched a pile of 5moh videos over the years, so I had an idea of what to expect. The stars aligned, and we had the right group of guys in Moab simultaneously, so we dove in head first. While loading bikes the morning of this ride, I got a message that a friend at home had passed away in a motorcycle accident. RIP Rene Villeneuve :( Seth was riding a KTM 890R (790 plastics) with Anakee Wilds. Radek was on his KTM 890 Rally with Michelin Desert Rally tires. Jaden and Cory were both on Yamaha T7s with Shinko 216 MX tires. Part 1 is here: 🤍

Does the Unicorn Adventure Motorcycle Exist? Let's Find Out ... Riders of dual sport and adventure motorcycles face a dilemma. Do you buy a small lightweight bike and suffer on the highway, or buy a large comfortable bike and suffer on the trails? Let's take a closer look at 4 popular sizes of adventure bike and discuss the ups and downs of each, give them a score, and see which one is most versatile. The Beta 500 RR-S is similar to a KTM 500EXC of Husqvarna FE501S. The R1250GS could be substituted for a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200, KTM 1290 Super Adventure, etc. The Tenere 700 could be subbed for a KTM 790 or 890 Adventure. And the Africa Twin could be changed out for a Tiger 900 or similar. And the scores would be similar. 🏍 SUPPORT BIG ROCK MOTO BY SHOPPING AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN AND REVZILLA USING THE LINKS BELOW: ⚠️Rocky Mountain: 🤍 ⚠️Revzilla: 🤍 ⚠️Merchandise ! : 🤍 ⚠️Patreon: 🤍 🏍 My Riding Gear: ⚡ No-Stink Merino Wool Riding Socks (amazing): 🤍 ⚡ Wool base Layer Shirt: 🤍 ⚡ Wool base Layer Pants: 🤍 ⚡ Balaclava: 🤍 ⚡ Garmin inReach Communicator: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Baja Jacket: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Baja Pants: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Carlsbad Jacket: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Carlsbad Pants: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Krios Pro Helmet: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Baja Gloves: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Adventure GTX Gloves: 🤍 ⚡ Sidi Adventure 2 Goretex Boots: 🤍 ⚡ Sidi Crossfire 3 Boots: 🤍 ⚡ HJC Dual Sport Helmet: 🤍 ⚡ Fox V-1 Dirt Helmet: 🤍 ⚡ Moose Body Armor: 🤍 ⚡ Klim Jersey: 🤍 🏍 Camping & Other: ⚡ Camp Chair: 🤍 ⚡ Jump Starter/USB Charger: 🤍 ⚡ Folding Utensils:🤍 ⚡ Jetboil:🤍 ⚡ MSR Stove: 🤍 🏍 Motorcycle Accessories: ⚡Tail Bag (Small): 🤍 ⚡Tail Bag (Large): 🤍 ⚡Puig Windshield Visor: 🤍 ⚡Garmin Zumo XT GPS: 🤍 ⚡Barkbuster Handguards: 🤍 ⚡Motoz Dual Venture Front Tire: 🤍 ⚡Motoz Rallz Rear Tire: 🤍 ⚡BMW Denali CANBUS Controller: 🤍 ⚡(GS) Denali D4 Lights: 🤍 ⚡(GS) Quick Lock Tank Bag: 🤍 ⚡(GS) Quick Lock Tank Mount: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Skid Plate: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Crash Bars: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Olympus Tank Bag: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Highland X2 Rackless Luggage: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Pannier Rack: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Olympus Panniers: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Oly Panniers/Rack Combo (savings): 🤍 ⚡Tusk Top Rack Only: 🤍 ⚡Thumper Jockey LED Lights: 🤍 ⚡ GPS Mount:🤍 ⚡T7 Windshield Adjuster: 🤍 ⚡Traverse Dual Sport Saddlebags: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Handguards:🤍 ⚡Tusk Lithium Battery: 🤍 ⚡Tusk Brake Guard: 🤍 ⚠️Welcome to Big Rock Moto ⚠️Subscribe and hit the bell, thumbs up, and leave comments ⚠️My other channel: 🤍 ⚠️Contact: info🤍bigrockmedia.net ⚠️Facebook: 🤍 ⚠️Instagram: 🤍

🤍 How to pick the best midweight adventure bikes! 0:58 Royal Enfield Himalayan 1:55 Kawasaki KLR650 2:28 Honda CB500X 3:09 Kawasaki Versys 650 3:49 Suzuki V-strom 650 4:38 Yamaha Tenere 700 5:17 KTM 890 6:20 Triumph Tiger 900 6:58 BMW F850GS Recently we looked at the best lightweight bikes for adventure riding. Riders all over the world are getting into adventure riding for the first time. A midweight adventure bike comparison of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KLR650, CB500X, Tenere 700, Versys 650, V-strom 650, KTM 890, Triumph 900 and BMW F850GS. We define this as 175 to 220kg when the bike has a full tank of fuel. We are only looking at brand new bikes that are widely available in most countries. Our adventure bike reviews are more critical than most reviews, so we are interested in the known issues and common complaints. Use this mid sized adventure bikes video as a rough guide, then do your own research. Lets start with the cheapest midweight adventure bikes. Okay! The best Midweight adventure bikes. The Royal Enfield Himalayan. There are plenty of happy mid sized adventure bike owners. Only 24 horsepower but lots of torque. It's a good all rounder on or off road with reasonable brakes and suspension. The KLR650, one of the best best midweight adventure bikes? The 2022 model had a pile of updates which unfortunately made it heavier and pushed it into our mid sized category. Recent KLR models have very few problems, the only important one is the 'doohickey' mod. How to pick the best midweight adventure bikes like the Tenere 700, KTM 890, Triumph 900, KLR650 and Himilayan! See our KLR650 review. Next in our adventure bike comparison... Honda's CB500X. See our review video. Next in our midweight adventure bike comparison? The Kawasaki Versys 650. A very cheap adventure tourer. And by adventure tourer, we mean essentially a road bike with just enough adventure trimmings to be okay on easy dirt roads. Next is a very similar bike, Suzuki's V-strom 650. This old workhorse is still made in Japan and is only slightly more expensive than the Kawasaki, and definitely more adventure oriented with its 19 inch front wheel. It's been around since 2004 and the majority of known issues were fixed years ago. The main things to note are the exposed engine oil filter if you are into the rough stuff. And niggling little things like complicated access to the air filter. It's quite heavy at 213kg, but it is great for carrying a passenger. It's definitely a bike for just roads and easy dirt roads. The seat is quite low, but it's a heavy mother so just make sure you can pick this up if it falls over. See our review vid. The Yamaha Tenere 700. Very cheap in the USA, less so in other countries but still way cheaper than the KTM, Triumph and BMW competitors. This is the our first twin cylinder bike with serious off road ability due to a 21 inch front wheel, relatively light weight, and long travel suspension. Yamaha has kept the electronics to a minimum with just basic ABS. Next is the KTM 890 and we are getting seriously expensive now. Press releases indicated the 790 and probably the 890 would be made in China from mid 2020. If you are planning on serious offroad work, the KTM has the suspension to suit, and it's also the most powerful midweight adventure bike. KTM often has teething problems with new models. 790 owners report electrical issues, rear shock failure, ABS problems, failing digital screens, coolant leaks, leaking exhausts, rear brake issues, oil leaks, clutch failures, and cracked engine cases. Not all owners have problems of course. There were separate recalls from KTM for the front brakes and rear brakes. Hopefully many of these issues will be resolved in the 890. The Triumph Tiger 900 available with a 19 inch or 21 inch front wheel. It's the latest update to the trusty 800 model that began in 2010. Finally, the BMW F850GS. Bloody expensive! But money means quality, right? The engine is made in China, and like KTM it appears the cost savings have not been passed to the owners. A huge range here, you can buy three Royal Enfields for the price of the BMW. That's our Royal Enfield Himalayan, KLR650, CB500X, Tenere 700, Versys 650, V-strom 650, KTM 890, Triumph 900 and BMW F850GS comparison! 2022 Big Bore Adventure Shootout - Cycle News

We’ve come a long way, haven’t we? Adventure motorcycles, at least in the top-tier big bore (1200 cc-plus) category, can now lay legitimate claim to being the most technologically advanced motorcycles on the planet, capable of traversing any kind of terrain, on any area of the planet, in supreme comfort and certainly speed. The biggest of the big, this category is not for beginner riders. Indeed, many riders who buy these bikes will take them on dirt roads and rocky terrain occasionally at best, with most of the riding done on paved backroads as they go in search of, well, whatever got them riding that day. We’ve gathered the traditional three in BMW, KTM and Ducati and thrown in the homeboy, Harley-Davidson, just to give them a bit of a red, white and blue mix. Each bike is as standard as we could get them from the manufacturers, and as close as possible to what you’ll get in the show room. Some of the bikes on test were already fitted with aftermarket/performance parts, like BMW with their Enduro Pro mode, but mostly, they are very close to what you’ll pick up. To score these bikes as fairly as possible, we tried to compare engine, chassis, and electronics performance, as well as value for money and each rider’s overall ranking. We then averaged them together to give the final order.

ADV! That’s the word that gets people perked up these days. Adventure motorcycles are usually built to last, can be taken anywhere and most of the time, leave a lasting impression. Varun Painter dons the hat of a dealer who entertains a super confused Raunak and on the table are 5 motorcycles. Starting off with the KTM 390 Adventure, we move on to the 250 Adventure, the BMW G310GS and finish this off with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Hero Xpulse. Will confusion loom large or is there a motorcycle that Raunak takes back home? #PowerDrift Join the 2 Million strong #PDArmy : 🤍 Stay updated with News, Behind the Scenes here : 🤍 T-shirts, Badges & More official merchandise : 🤍 Find us on Facebook: 🤍 Follow us on Twitter for Launch updates & more : 🤍

Why are adventure bikes getting so heavy?︱Cross Training Adventure

🤍 Why are adventure and dual sport motorbikes getting heavier? It's a common complaint from anyone who has been adventure riding for years. The vast majority of new adventure models are heavy beasts based on road motorbikes. Welcome to Cross Training Adventure, we are into all things dual sport and adventure on the east coast of Australia. Why is there so little focus on new adventure motorbikes, and big-bore dual sport motorbikes, under 170kg? I like to complain regularly about this issue. Keen on adventure riding in Australia? Check out our vids. If you like dual sport riding in Australia then you might like our adventure riding vids. Check out our reviews of various adventure bikes and dual sport bikes. But then I decided to actually try and find out why it's an issue. Here are some reasons. ABS. Automatic braking systems are required in many countries now for larger motorbikes, which always adds some weight. Finally, manufacturers know that many countries will soon only allow imports of electric motorbikes. This is one of our three channels, there's also a Cross Training Trials channel, and a Cross Training Enduro channel. So called dual sport riding reviews are just glossy ads nowdays. All we are saying is there's also the budget option for adventure riding. And it won't hold you back. Why? We reckon it's 80% the rider and 20% the bike. So the Cross Training Adventure focus is just get out there and have fun on two wheels. Instead of obsessing over the latest blinged out Beemer, which tyres to fit or spending a fortune on your suspension or billet alloy gas cap. So most of our adventure riding vids will feature the much loved bush pig, the Suzuki DR650. What else? Cross Training Adventure actively avoids sponsorship. A 1200 that weighed only 175kg dry, but was ridiculously expensive. There is also the possibility that the overall market simply isn't that interested in sub-170kg motorbikes. Look at European models that failed to gain a big following and were discontinued. The Husqvarna TE610 and TE630. The CCM GP450. So manufacturers are less likely to put serious money into development of our carbon-emitting beasts. When I look over this list, I can see why there is very little focus on lighter adventure motorbikes and big-bore dual sport motorbikes. But I can't say I'm happy about it. Of course there are times a big heavy motorbike works out well. Fuel injection. Emission laws have made this very popular, and it typically adds a few kilograms, along with other anti-pollution gear. Emission laws also favour twin-cylinder engines which create far less emissions than single-cylinder engines. It's also much cheaper for manufacturers to just 'adventurise' an existing road motorbike, which is always at least two cylinders. So subscribe. Or don't subscribe to our Cross Training Adventure riding channel. The main thing is get out and ride while you can with dual sport riding or Adventure riding in Australia, Canada, Vietnam, Romania and beyond! So check out Cross Training Adventure. Change the suspension. Slap on a windscreen. Add some engine guards. A rear rack. Possibly beef up the frame. Done. A new adventure model, which is usually heavier than the already heavy road model. Any serious attempt at a large but very light adventure motorbike is going to be very expensive. An example? BMW's HP2. SWM RS650R and Superdual. Husqvarna Terra. I suspect the demand for lighter models isn't that high. And existing models like the KTM 690, DR650, XR650L and CRF450L are more than enough. Some have also argued that the modern adventure rider is also more interested in mostly riding on highways, and perhaps the occasional easy dirt road. Are adventure motorbikes getting a bit too heavy for your liking? Or you like the current range on offer? Keen to hear your thoughts. So a big road-oriented motorbike is going to suit them better. The past decade has seen massive sales of SUV and 4WD cars that are rarely driven off-road, but it has become a fashion trend. Some moto-journalists argue we are seeing a similar trend with adventure riding. Our enduro channel: 🤍 Our trials channel: 🤍 Let us know if we used your music but forgot to credit you. Dual Sport VS Adventure Motorcycles - Which one is better?

Video credits: EveRide ADV Brent Pearson 🤍 I bought an adventure bike recently – No dude, that’s a dual sport. Wait isn’t it the same thing? Over the last few months I’ve been getting blasted in the comments section on youtube and rightfully so, for making the age old error of referring to dual sports as adventure bikes and vice versa. I’ve been using it interchangeably. There’s a difference between the two, a very distinct difference which I will explain in this video. It’s important to know about the differences because when deciding on which bike you want, whether it’s a dual sport or an adventure bike, knowing the key differences between the two will help you decide which bike may be best for the type of riding you plan on doing. So basically it all comes down to one thing – Dual sport bikes are lighter, have smaller engines (up to 650 cc) and are generally more suited to off-road conditions. Adventure bikes, on the other hand have big, powerful engines of 650 cc or more, are much heavier and feature electronic rider aids that make them safer and more comfortable touring on pavement. Dual sports have single cylinders with a displacement of less than 650cc, while adventure bikes usually have twin cylinders or more. Dual sports have a higher ground clearance, are lighter, the gearing is low for trails, with a higher seat and a lighter frame to keep the bike lightweight. Adventure bikes have a larger tank capacity, stronger frame, high gearing for highway speeds, a lower, more comfortable seat and a much more powerful engine. An example of a dual sport would be the Yamaha WR250R. Extremely capable off road, lightweight single cylinder engine producing 30hp. Great long travel suspension, high ground clearance, but lacks in power and struggles keeping up highway speeds. An example of an adventure bike would be the KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Powerful engine, much heavier, much more capable on the highway but way harder to handle off road. I believe the ideal bike is where dual sport and adventure bikes meet, in the middle, in that grey area which we could refer to as middleweight adventure bikes. And if you’ve been watching my channel enough you can guess which bike I’d give as an example of this… The Yamaha Tenere 700. A great mix of off road performance and enough power to be able to handle the highways. This is why its important to know the difference between dual sports and adventure bikes, you need to weigh up what kind of riding you will primarily be doing and then choose a motorcycle that fits your intended riding. If you are going to be doing 30% off road and 70% on road, then I’d recommend an adventure bike. But if you’re mainly going off road most of the time, then you’d want to consider a lightweight dual sport. Or if you wanna be able to ride anything, then something like a Kawasaki KLR650, 650cc single cylinder with great long travel suspension and ground clearance or the super capable Tenere 700.
