The Church is full of religious Orders, but none as vast as the Franciscans. There are HUNDREDS of types of Franciscans. So why so many? This is the first in a new series called "Catholicism In Focus," a segment that takes a deeper look at the things we say and do in our faith all the time, but maybe don’t think much about. "Have mercy on us and on the whole world." Join the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and asking God to shower his mercy upon us. While originally planned to be released closer to Divine Mercy Sunday, we have moved up our release date to encourage all people to pray that God's mercy helps to console the suffering, give peace to the anxious, wisdom to our pastors, and renew all people in their trust in the Lord: Jesus, I trust in you. "Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself." The Divine Mercy Chaplet features breathtaking footage from Martin Jernberg which helps us to experience the beauty and breadth of the world and the Catholic Church with whom and for whom we are praying. Included in the video are the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in New York and Honduras, the Sisters of Life at Times Square, the Brothers of Saint John in the Philippines, the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta and the OFMs in the Holy Land. This episode was recorded on April 4, 2022. I discussed gratitude, faith, and suffering in this conversation at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. How can we be sure that pain is a solid guiding principle as we navigate the world? What is the underlying structure of pain, and what does it point at? We also touched on a myriad of topics around those central themes, such as sin and the symbol of the snake, giving advice, resurrection, the relationship between faith and suffering, evil, the effect we have on others, and sunsets. // SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL // Newsletter: 🤍 Donations: 🤍 // COURSES // Discovering Personality: 🤍 Self Authoring Suite: 🤍 Understand Myself (personality test): 🤍 // BOOKS // Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: 🤍 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: 🤍 Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: 🤍 // LINKS // Website: 🤍 Events: 🤍 Blog: 🤍 Podcast: 🤍 // SOCIAL // Twitter: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Telegram: 🤍 #Pain #Suffering #Bible #Faith #Evil #FranciscanUniversity #JordanPeterson #JordanBPeterson #DrJordanPeterson #DrJordanBPeterson #DailyWirePlus #podcast
This episode was recorded on April 4, 2022. In this speech at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Jordan shared recent thoughts on ethics, scripture, and the problem of perception. He asked the audience to reflect on how we remember great stories (but seem to instantly forget bad ones), why Western culture ended up being a book (instead of—say—a sickle), and whether the West truly is a “phallogocentric" culture. All of this, Jordan says, tied to a broader possibility—perhaps his “most radical claim"—that, as we navigate the value structures we call reality, a lot of so-called “navigational” problems are really veiled ethical ones. // SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL // Newsletter: 🤍 Donations: 🤍 // COURSES // Discovering Personality: 🤍 Self Authoring Suite: 🤍 Understand Myself (personality test): 🤍 // BOOKS // Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: 🤍 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: 🤍 Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: 🤍 // LINKS // Website: 🤍 Events: 🤍 Blog: 🤍 Podcast: 🤍 // SOCIAL // Twitter: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Telegram: 🤍 #Perception #Bible #Western #Power #Literature #Ethics #FranciscanUniversity #JordanPeterson #JordanBPeterson #DrJordanPeterson #DrJordanBPeterson #DailyWirePlus #podcast

For a Franciscan monk the subject of obedience is of great importance. He and his brothers swear vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The founder of the order, Francis of Assisi, pledged to live like Jesus Christ and viewed himself as a penitent. To this day, Franciscan monks live according to this ascetic ideal. For them, obedience to God manifests itself in respect for all living beings. Some view this as a model for a modern version of global humanism.

Whether we have been Catholic our whole lives or are just now considering the Faith, we are all on a spiritual journey toward conversion. God never intended that we journey alone, and he offers us companionship and assistance through the Saints, the Scriptures, and other means of communicating his love and his plan. Today, Br. Lawrence joins Fr. Mark-Mary in sharing five works that directed him towards converting to the Catholic Faith. From a novel he read in high school to letters he discovered in RCIA, Br. Lawrence shares how God speaks to us through different modes when we need to hear him. These encounters lead us to better understand the areas we might falter, including Eucharistic devotion, early Christian narratives, Catholic doctrine, and what it means to have a personal relationship with God. ❓ Have ideas for future videos ❓ Topics you want to hear about ❓ Questions you want answered ❓ Make sure to put #AskAscension in your comment 👍 — MORE FROM ASCENSION — 🔸Ascension’s main website: 🤍 🔸Ascension Media: 🤍 🔸The Great Adventure Bible: 🤍 — SOCIAL MEDIA — 🔸Facebook: 🤍 🔸Twitter: 🤍 🔸LinkedIn: 🤍 🔸Instagram: 🤍 🔸Subscribe: 🤍
