observations. it appears that this engine has a low-loss valve linkage. however, it is not clear whether the use of a centering spring results as a speed limiter. it is not clear whether the radius (and loading) of the cam is As Small as practical. popping sound suggests that the valve timing is not optimal.
it can be seen that, someone put the heatsinking at the Wrong end, of the cylinder !!!!
