With so many big time fitness influencers promoting it, one would think there are plenty of data and evidence showing that working out on an empty stomach will yield great results. But as we dive into the information, things don't look that great for fasted exercise. Is it time to once and for all ditch your morning cardio for a bit of protein shake and pancakes instead? What about fasted lifting? For my schedule I can only work out in the morning. But if I eat before lifting I feel like throwing up 🤕 🤢
People! Study your own body! What works for you doesn’t necessarily work for everyone else.
Great video as usual. But this one comes to show that everyone is different - my performance and overall energy during the day is considerably higher when exercising fasted. I’ve tried all other options: small snack 30min before exercising, a meal a few hours before, the whole lot. Nothing comes close to the performance and energy output I produce when fasting 🤷🏻♂️
Goddammit, I like starving myself, and I don't care about what you have to say!
Oh, so it's about burning fat or carbs, and losing weight not about getting more out of the cardio. I feel great doing fasted cardio and I'm trying to gain weight. So do I just flip the clickbait headline like I do for most other "health" tips, in order to apply to me?
Why aren't people talking about the intensity of the fasted cardio? Doing fasted cardio hard is different from low intensity fasted cardio
Thanks for the update on this topic, now where can I get the recipe book and supplements?
Video brought to you and funded by Kelloggs, and Big Pharma. "Remember kids, eat a hardy breakfast before any activity for ultimate performance."
Are there any negative effects from doing 30 minutes fasted cardio walking on the treadmill as far as raising cortisol levels and possibly fat storage or lean muscle loss?
Its amazing. First time I have heard (and it got recommended to me) about fasted cardio in the traditional sense was like 4 years ago. It felt good - I don't know why and it would be cool to know. BUT, it felt amazing.
Thing is, I always work out in the morning before work and there I won't eat anything before going to the gym. And having 1-2 cardio mornings in the week I always go there before eating. Afterwards its (not always) a protein shake or a yoghurt with berries and oat. So as for me, I will continue doing this but as long as it doesn't do any harm.
Anyways I wanted to thank you for this video and wish you much love <3
Question 4: Does it provide a metabolic flexibility benefit?
This seems much more interesting to me.
The other factors, especially a caloric deficit, the epinephrine release while fasted gives a 400% reduction in lean muscle mass loss.
Any studies on this for those on a nutritional Keto diet? Until there is, you can't make a blanket claim that fasted cardio provides no benefit.
How does IF not eating pre training effect muscle loss compared to IF and eating pre workout? Thanks
Being in the military, PT is 0630 to 0800. I obviously don't eat before my 5 miles but I dont think that counts as fasted cardio
In regards to weightlifting I tried going fasted as I was going at 6am…
I felt awful and just didn’t have time for a proper meal … started trying out Rice Krispie bars & Pop Tarts.. sessions felt way better and I’m down around 8KG so far …
The problem with that research is that it’s of 20 people, over 4 weeks. Yes it’s evidence but you couldn’t translate that data into widespread accuracy… I think you’d need a way larger sample size. Plus, what was their adherence protocols? We’re they locked in a facility for 4 weeks, only ate what they were given, and had sleep and physical exercise monitored? Cause otherwise, even if there was some monetary reward for their participation in the study, if people were left to report their own sleep, physical activity and what they ate… I’m just saying, not that it’s impossible, but people do lie.
I always hit PRs when doing fasted workouts. Have not really tried fasted cardio yet.
Because I never do cardio and I despise it.
if you eat more calories of course you are going to burn more calories... there are more to burn lol. its like giving two people one jar of peanut butter each, but one of them is half full and telling them to burn off all the calories from eating all of whats in their jars of pb. one has more available to burn. thats doesnt mean they are losing more fat. it means they have more fat to burn.
