Friends, the first and second readings this Sunday beautifully show both sides of Catholic social teaching: the balance between recognizing political, economic, and social power, and criticizing the abuse of that power. We should not demonize our leaders; we pray for them, and we recognize their importance. But we should not divinize them either; we are deeply aware of the ways that their power can be corrupted. Why do you say there is much controversy about saying that Jesus “wills everyone to be saved”? He loves us and wants us to be saved from our sin so we can spend eternity with Him in Heaven and not in eternal damnation in Hell with Satan.

This sounds like theocracy.

I do love that Catholics are all ‘peace be with you’. We need more of that in our lives and the world.

In Jesus teaching the poor will always exist,as they do today, and charity and the church give the poor stuff but Jesus meant that the poor should exist and be included in and not excluded from society, which is the class system and not Christian, privileged society should include the poor not exclude, that opens opportunity for the poor, giving them out of date food and things you no longer want ,is not the inclusion but exclusion.

It is important to remember that power can allow someone to do great things and horrible things. There is fear when people see power. How can it hurt me or benefit me? This fear is use for political gain and sabotage.

Hi father. I love your videos. I've seen your analysis and lectures on characters and movies like Gran Torino for instance. I think a great character for you to talk about soon would be Matt Murdock, aka Marvel's Daredevil. He is a very devoutly catholic character and super hero. I think it would be a very interesting topic of discussion

I am not technically Catholic (sometime I go to Catholic churches) but have been truly enjoying Bishop Barron's right dividing of the word of truth. I watched this whole video and I have one question, did I understand the Bishop to say our salvation is based on our morale character? Surely, our salvation is a gift from God and not earned except by faith in Christ as God's Son and his resurrection from the dead. Enjoyed this teaching and the history lesson about the influential secular authors that so many put their misplaced trust in.

Great homily - though I believe he missed an opportunity to juxtapose BLM (demonize) and MAGA (Divinize) in our current world

Christian support of forced birth shows the true danger of the Christian cult. If Christiany is true then abortion is the most moral thing that potential mothers could ever do! For the vast majority of human beings...billions upon billions according to Christianity...eternally burning and suffering in hell will be their fate! In fact if hell is real...the majority of human beings should curse their mothers who were selfish enough to risk extreme eternal suffering for them! Abortion is the most humane thing a mother could ever do...the risk of eternal torture far outweighs any life even eternal life. Forcing hell upon people is the true heart behind Christianity and Christians. For this reason alone...Christianity is the biggest danger ever sold because no rational human being could ever embrace this monsterous dichotomy.

Thank you Bishop Barron for coming out and using the Bible ...as a Catholic we know that protestants dont think we read or know the Bible ..this shows that that is really the opposite......good job

Thank you Bishop Barron, for this beautiful sermon.

I have a query about 'The Marian Movement of Priests'. Has this been verified and approved by the Church? I've read that it hasn't been, however, at the same time, it's written by a priest.

Could you please guide me? Thanks and God Bless you.

Professeur Barron, the Virgin Mary said in one of the apparitions that priests should keep their sermons simple. Most likely she meant that the gospel can only be understood through the Spirit and no amount of human knowledge can replace it. "Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom..." (1 Cor.1:21) If Christ's work on the cross could be understood by humanly-conceived wisdom, the Gospel would be accessible only to the intellectually gifted and well-educated and not to ordinary people and children.
